CONSERVATION LIGHTING INTERNATIONAL (CLI) is the pioneer American lighting designer in functional glass fibre optics architectural lighting, which is the most energy efficient technology now known. CLI’s innovation is using this completely different technology for functional rather than decorative uses. Since 1993, CLI has specialized in designing with this long lasting, cool and very energy efficient additional lighting tool lighting long employed abroad.
After having discovered it in England and waited too long for it to finally arrive the United States, CLI decided to import this source/system directly itself. While millions of feet of glass fibre optics for communications are made here, glass fibre optics for lighting still has to come from countries like Germany and Japan.
Probably because of terminal inertia to change procedures, lack of practical education in the subject, and recent massive advertising of CFLs and LEDs, the United States has been slower than its foreign colleagues to use glass fibre optics for functional rather than for just decorative purposes. The fact is, it is simply another addition to a whole array of lighting tools, and can be used either alone, or together with conventional products.
CLI has found that with a little imagination, and awareness of all the technology available, it is possible to create exciting lighting within the new national energy restrictions.
Often, this completely different source/system can do a better job than conventional products. This cool (literally and figuratively) miniaturized lighting tool is for high-level illumination for both directional (spotlight) task, display and architectural features, and also ambient (general) uses. It can do practically everything except wholesale floodlighting. More and more, architectural and theatrical techniques are combined for the most sophisticated effects.
CLI offers full turnkey service:
a) Providing design ourselves, or coordinating with the existing construction professionals
b) Making direct purchases eliminate middleman equipment charges for custom equipment
c) Offering optional supervision of first-time installers
CLI has developed standards for:
ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites), a group of ovedr 100 nations R.S. Means, Publisher for the American construction industry ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) NECA (National Electrical Contractors’ Association) NEIS #503
CONSERVATION LIGHTING INTERNATIONAL takes a holistic approach to construction, encouraging full cooperation, communication and coordination among all disciplines and trades. It conducts continuing worldwide research to find the simplest solution for best results.
